CreateAustin news can currently be found on the City of Austin cultural plan webpages and in their terrific monthly newsletters. Just to catch you up, the community leaders involved in the initial planning process have continued to work together to get community-led projects moving forward and to maintain momentum for City Council to act on plan recommendations. Leadership Council members have created a set of initiatives to:
- Advise the Austin Circle of Theatres in expanding their service base to all creatives and establishing the Greater Austin Creative Alliance
- Work with a group of Austin-area grantmakers bringing together arts education providers to develop and implement strategies to increase access, quality and impact of creative learning for area youth through the MindPop Roadmap and Solution Groups
- Participate in city planning efforts, including the Downtown Austin Plan, and the Imagine Austin comprehensive plan
- Continue to work with City government on getting plan City-led recommendations approved and implemented.
In the meantime the creative character of Austin continues to blossom - with our many festivals showcasing creativity of all kinds, the explosion of East Austin Studio Tours
into a two-week event, and the work of many creatives finding visibility within Austin and beyond.
What's standing out for you from this past year? And what's exciting coming up in 2010?
