James Parsons

Since my original comments that were posted, I have modified my advocacy away from simply the notion of "Leadership Succession" to "Age Diversity." This is largely because of a great conversation that I had with Cookie Ruiz on this topic and have seen that LS is too limited and the better view is AD. Thank you, Cookie, since you were right on!! I have posted a blog on my site on this evolved position for those interested, at http://www.jamestparsons.blogspot.com/

Also, I have to report that what we are doing at Catalyst 8 and the Long Center on this area is progressing. Our first "Boostcamp" was a huge success itself, but the biggest success was the conversations that we have started within the arts community toward creative collaborations. As an example, Catalyst 8 has been able to help Erin Ivey, a great local musician, partner up with Gene Burns, a local actor/film maker, to have Erin do a song for his short film, Ruth's Locket. Additionally, we have helped partner Gene also with Paul Keith, a local composer, who will also be assisting with the score and orchestration of the short. These grassroots conversations are occurring and parallel the CreateAustin efforts.
